Responsibilities
- Design and build AI-native platforms, backend services, data systems, and developer tools for Apple's engineering workflows.
- Connect AI systems to organizational context, internal data, tools, and engineering processes.
- Build retrieval pipelines, knowledge retrieval systems, agents, tool-use integrations, and searchable knowledge systems.
- Develop evaluation pipelines and feedback loops to measure and improve AI system quality.
- Create infrastructure that supports machine learning scientists, algorithm engineers, hardware teams, designers, and human factors researchers.
- Shape the architecture and direction of internal tools that may evolve into broader products and engineering platforms.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of software engineering experience.
- Proficiency in Python and at least one of Swift, TypeScript, or another systems-level language.
- Experience designing and building backend services, data pipelines, or platform infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience building with modern AI and agent frameworks.
- Strong software architecture and API design skills.
- Experience with retrieval pipelines, RAG, embeddings, vector search, or knowledge retrieval systems.
- Experience evaluating and iterating on AI system outputs through evaluation pipelines and quality measurement.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred experience includes macOS or iOS client applications, workflow orchestration, experiment tracking, reproducibility tooling, complex data models, storage layers, integration APIs, LLM tool use, MCP, function calling, access-controlled data systems, vector databases, cloud AI services, self-hosted model serving, open-source AI/ML infrastructure, developer tools, CLIs, and large established codebases.
