Responsibilities
- Build and refine controls that prevent Wise customers from scams.
- Develop backend and frontend systems for scam prevention and detection, with approximately 80% backend and 20% frontend work.
- Improve financial crime prevention infrastructure, monitoring, automation, and detection capabilities.
- Design and operate scalable, distributed, and concurrent systems and CI/CD pipelines.
- Own projects end to end and make data-driven decisions with customer impact in mind.
- Collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Investigations teams to solve complex financial crime problems.
Requirements
- Professional experience with Java or other JVM-based languages and the Spring framework.
- Experience building and designing scalable web applications that handle large amounts of traffic.
- Ideally, experience with React-based frontend applications and JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Proven experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines and distributed and concurrent systems.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, query optimization, and resilient schema design.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, problem-solving ability, and commitment to test-driven development and coding best practices.
- Strong product ownership, accountability, independent project execution, and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts across teams.
