Responsibilities
- Own and deliver complex, cross-team quality initiatives from ambiguous problem definition through architecture, implementation, and production rollout.
- Lead technical design discussions and establish test strategy, architecture, and quality standards across teams.
- Develop original solutions to complex quality problems and manage quality, release, and production-readiness risks.
- Build and scale automated testing across API, end-to-end, UI, performance, load, and reliability domains.
- Champion CI/CD, observability, monitoring, alerting, and production-hygiene practices across engineering teams.
- Mentor engineers, guide execution, improve code review standards, contribute to hiring and interviewing, and strengthen engineering culture.
- Partner with engineering, product, design, support, and field/customer success teams to resolve recurring customer issues and improve products and processes.
- Participate in on-call response, critical production issue resolution, customer escalations, and root-cause analysis.
- Drive adoption of AI-powered testing, evaluate AI tooling and agentic testing frameworks, and integrate selected tools into automation and delivery pipelines.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of quality or test engineering experience with deep hands-on automation expertise across API, end-to-end, and performance/scale testing.
- At least 8 years of experience building and scaling automation frameworks using Java or an equivalent object-oriented language, including UI and/or API testing tools.
- At least 5 years of experience designing and executing performance, load, and reliability testing and using results to influence engineering decisions.
- At least 5 years of experience with Splunk, Datadog, Grafana, SQL, and Unix/Linux systems.
- Demonstrated ability to independently own ambiguous, cross-team technical projects, including planning, scoping, scalability, monitoring, alerting, resource efficiency, and production readiness.
- Proven ability to influence technical direction and build alignment among engineering, product, design, and other stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience leading technical design discussions and building stakeholder support.
- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to hiring and interviewing.
- Hands-on experience applying AI/ML tools to quality engineering, including LLM-based test or code generation, AI coding assistants, self-healing test frameworks, or AI-driven anomaly and log analysis.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; an advanced degree is a plus.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly, evaluate trade-offs, and provide technical direction.
