Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and own data-intensive, high-performance, scalable platform components.
- Build, deploy, and optimize streaming infrastructure and systems powering analytics and machine learning.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and cross-functional partners on project design and implementation.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, analysis, and performance tuning.
- Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the technology stack.
- Coach and mentor engineers to help scale the engineering organization.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience with an object-oriented programming language, preferably Java.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based distributed computing technologies, including Kinesis or Kafka; Flink, Spark, or Beam; Snowflake or Hadoop; and coordinators or schedulers such as Kubernetes, Hadoop, or Mesos.
- Experience developing and tuning highly scalable distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, multithreading, garbage collection, and memory management.
- Experience with reliability engineering involving data quality, data observability, and incident management.
- Preferred experience maintaining security, encryption, identity management, or authentication infrastructure.
- Preferred experience using major public cloud providers for mission-critical, high-volume services.
- Preferred experience developing large-scale data integration applications across batch and online systems.
- Preferred experience developing Kubernetes-based services on AWS.
