Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Benchling ELN integrations with LIMS, laboratory instruments, and data platforms.
- Implement Benchling automation workflows using the REST API, SDK, webhooks, and Apps Framework under GxP guidelines.
- Configure and maintain entity schemas, assay schemas, and notebook templates for scientific workflows.
- Build ETL pipelines to transfer and transform Benchling data to and from downstream analytics platforms.
- Support 21 CFR Part 11 compliance, development documentation, and system validation activities.
- Collaborate with scientists and QA teams to translate requirements into reliable, audit-ready solutions.
- Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and team development standards.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of software development experience, including at least 2 years working directly with Benchling ELN in pharmaceutical or life sciences environments.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with the Benchling SDK and REST API.
- Working knowledge of Benchling entities, registries, assay results, and notebook configurations.
- Familiarity with 21 CFR Part 11 and GxP-regulated software development practices.
- Experience with at least one of AWS, Azure, or GCP and with PostgreSQL or SQL Server.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and translate scientific needs into technical specifications.
- Experience integrating Benchling with LIMS or other laboratory informatics platforms is preferred.
- Exposure to Airflow, AWS Step Functions, or similar data pipeline tooling is preferred.
- Understanding of pharmaceutical R&D workflows, including sample registration, assay execution, and study management, is preferred.
- Benchling app development or administrator experience and knowledge of FAIR data principles and scientific data governance are preferred.
- 15 years of full-time education is required.
