Base Salary
$180k - $245k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and integrate novel cryptographic systems into orbital edge computing platforms and software products.
- Architect security and data-sovereignty models for multi-tenant workloads and communications, including tenant isolation and customer data control.
- Develop key management, PKI, certificate lifecycle, cryptographic agility, and post-quantum readiness solutions.
- Build libraries, APIs, and services for secure consumption of cryptographic capabilities by engineering teams.
- Conduct threat modeling, architecture reviews, and security-focused code reviews.
- Integrate cryptography with hardware-backed key protection such as HSMs, TPMs, and TEEs.
- Provide hands-on security guidance and secure coding practices to software developers.
- Partner with software and hardware engineers to deliver secure, customer-focused solutions in a fast-moving environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 15 years of professional software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in a systems programming language such as C, C++, or Rust.
- Deep knowledge of symmetric and asymmetric cryptography and cryptographic protocols.
- Experience designing and implementing key management, PKI, and certificate lifecycle solutions.
- Experience with secure development practices, threat modeling, and security-focused code review.
- Experience building secure systems in cloud or multi-tenant hosted environments.
- Experience with GitLab or similar Git distributions and CI/CD tools.
- Preferred experience with HSMs, TPMs, or TEEs; NIST 800-53, FIPS 140-2/3, or CMMC; and post-quantum cryptography.
- Strong judgment, organization, collaboration, and problem-solving skills in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
Benefits
- Full-time role based in Houston, Texas, with remote work permitted if the employee is onsite in Houston every other week.
