Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-scale cyber threat detection capabilities across diverse technologies.
- Research adversarial tactics, techniques, and procedures and develop proactive detection methodologies.
- Partner with Cyber Threat Intelligence to operationalize intelligence into sustainable detection coverage.
- Transform threat-hunting results into automated, scalable detections and long-term detection hypotheses.
- Architect detection-engineering automation, frameworks, and reusable tooling.
- Identify and implement improvements to detection tooling, infrastructure, and enterprise data visibility.
- Drive remediation of detection and visibility gaps with platform owners, security architects, and engineering teams.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to establish security requirements and strengthen detection and response capabilities.
- Coach and mentor team members while promoting technical excellence, analytical rigor, and continuous learning.
- Champion emerging technologies and modern engineering practices in detection operations.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in detection engineering, incident response, threat hunting, or similar security operations roles.
- Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives and provide strategic technical direction.
- Expertise in risk-based alerting strategies, detection methodologies, enterprise detection models, and risk-scoring frameworks.
- Deep knowledge of enterprise architectures, networks, Windows, macOS, Linux, cloud ecosystems, and telemetry pipelines.
- Expert understanding of MITRE ATT&CK and the Cyber Kill Chain and the ability to translate them into operational detection logic.
- Advanced proficiency with Splunk Enterprise Security, including correlation searches, risk frameworks, data models, and performance optimization.
- Advanced experience with SPL and KQL and the ability to build scalable, optimized detection libraries.
- Familiarity with SOAR, code repositories, engineering pipelines, and detection-content development practices.
- Applied experience in areas such as cyber detection engineering, cyber threat hunting, cyber threat intelligence, digital forensics and incident response, Python-based security automation and orchestration, or insider risk investigations.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, strategic judgment, and cross-functional influence skills.
- Relevant industry certifications such as GDAT, GCDA, GCTD, GCTI, GMON, GPEN, GCIH, GCFA, OSCP, OSCE, OSWE, or equivalent are preferred.
