Responsibilities

  • Operate Kubernetes clusters, including version upgrades, critical component management, node rotations, and workload compatibility analysis.
  • Scan clusters for remediation needs, define corrective actions, and execute security patches and infrastructure changes.
  • Automate cluster upgrades and other operational processes across hundreds of clusters to reduce toil.
  • Optimize infrastructure costs through Karpenter scaling strategies, pod bin-packing, node-family selection, spot capacity, Graviton/ARM adoption, and overprovisioning analysis.
  • Automate creation of Kubernetes clusters and bootstrap service mesh, deployment systems, and observability capabilities for new markets and tenants.
  • Manage the lifecycle of critical container-runtime components and collaborate with platform teams and SRE to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Use AI and agentic workflows to improve operational processes and contribute to organizational AI skills and plugins.
  • Monitor rollout metrics, define and measure infrastructure-maintenance KPIs, honor SLAs, and stop, roll back, or escalate problematic changes.

Requirements

  • Experience with Kubernetes and AWS.
  • Experience in software development, infrastructure management, or operations.
  • Ability to write automation code in Python, Bash, or Golang.
  • Experience designing infrastructure CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code, preferably Terraform.
  • Experience with Helm templating for Kubernetes manifests and GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or Flux.
  • Experience rolling out infrastructure changes to production through change-management workflows.
  • Understanding of workload impacts from cluster changes and node rotations, along with metrics needed to identify rollout problems.
  • Strong ownership of production rollouts, including rollback, remediation, and escalation when necessary.
  • Understanding of security practices including least-privilege access and firewall configuration.
  • Ability to collaborate with service development teams and understand maintenance-window issues.
  • Experience with Git and GitHub pull-request workflows, Agile practices, Sprints, Epics/Stories, and Jira.
  • Experience using AI tools such as Claude Code or Cursor and understanding of agentic workflows.
