Responsibilities
- Own backend features end to end, including requirements refinement, implementation, and production delivery.
- Challenge and improve product and technical decisions while shaping product architecture.
- Evolve the system core, APIs, and data layer.
- Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability for demanding high-load workloads.
- Balance rapid product delivery with sustainable technical architecture.
- Help develop APIs and infrastructure for AI/ML-driven workloads in drug discovery.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of software engineering experience with a strong backend focus.
- Deep understanding of computer science fundamentals, including object-oriented programming, algorithms, and data structures.
- Extensive experience with relational database management systems, columnar databases, search engines, and other NoSQL technologies.
- Proven experience in agentic engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin.
- Experience with system-level refactoring and the Spring ecosystem.
- Ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Ability to learn quickly in complex domains and communicate and collaborate effectively.
- Fluent English.
- Preferred: knowledge of biology and genetics, experience with profiling, tracing, and performance tools, and familiarity with Python.
- Interest in life sciences, data science, and ML/AI applications.
