Senior/Lead Software Engineer, Developer Productivity (AI Tooling)

Responsibilities
- Lead technical design and delivery of developer-productivity products spanning desktop applications, backend services, data platforms, governance workflows, and engineering-system integrations.
- Build backend APIs, data models, ingestion flows, dashboards, and user experiences connecting AI-tool usage to actionable engineering outcomes.
- Set technical direction, translate ambiguous requirements into designs and delivery plans, and partner with product and engineering stakeholders.
- Establish telemetry, SLIs and SLOs, rollout strategies, operational playbooks, and long-term ownership practices; lead incident investigation and root-cause analysis.
- Build production-grade software and orchestrate AI-agent systems that integrate into human engineering workflows.
- Define shared system context, standards, constraints, operational knowledge, and decision records for engineers and AI agents.
- Raise technical quality through design and code reviews, coaching, pairing, delegation, and accountability for technical outcomes.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience designing and building production software, including full-stack applications, backend services, developer tools, or internal platforms.
- A related technical degree is required.
- Strong programming skills across frontend, backend, APIs, data stores, and distributed-system boundaries.
- Experience taking ambiguous requirements through design, implementation, testing, rollout, and production ownership.
- Ability to communicate designs clearly, make technical tradeoffs, influence stakeholders, and lead complex cross-team work.
- Demonstrated AI-first engineering approach using tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Cursor.
- Advanced prompt-engineering skills and ability to create structured prompts and reliable system context.
- Preferred experience with developer tools, AI coding-tool integrations, internal platforms, telemetry systems, enterprise desktop applications, React, TypeScript, Go, service APIs, event pipelines, analytics systems, cloud services, Kubernetes, dashboards, plugin systems, command-line tools, or engineering-team integrations.

- Base salary ranges from $148,500-$260,100 annually, or $178,900-$285,800 annually in select San Francisco and New York City metropolitan-area cities; bonus, equity, and benefits are separate.
