Base Salary
$164k - $282k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed backend services for the fulfillment platform.
- Benchmark the platform, collect metrics, and publish performance results.
- Measure and maintain platform reliability and uptime against a 99.995% guarantee.
- Estimate capacity and provision clusters for different customer workloads.
- Manage production monitoring, alerting, incident investigation, and operational excellence.
- Analyze open-source platform components and code to resolve critical system issues and prevent recurring root causes.
- Collaborate with other teams to make the platform open, extensible, and supportive of future innovations.
- Coach and lead high-performing software engineers and coordinate with end users and technical and business teams.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience working directly within engineering teams in a fast-moving environment.
- At least 10 years of experience developing and operating backend services and web applications.
- Experience delivering complex, high-performance, highly available distributed software systems to customers.
- Extensive experience managing mission-critical, high-throughput, low-latency services.
- Strong experience developing with Java and the Spring Framework in an AWS environment.
- Exposure to SQL or NoSQL database systems such as Cassandra or MySQL.
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 7 years of total experience.
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle practices including coding standards, code reviews, build processes, testing, and live-site operations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, communicate, solve problems creatively, and collaborate across functions.
