Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and operate the distributed shared storage layer for a mission-critical OLTP database platform.
- Define and implement solutions for storage engine design, durability and consistency protocols, read-path caching, backpressure, compaction, and scalability.
- Own feature delivery from design documentation and production-quality implementation through operational readiness and deployment.
- Build monitoring, alarming, and automation; participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot production issues, and drive root-cause resolution.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, pairing, and support for larger technical ownership.
- Collaborate with Principal Engineers, peers, and AWS service teams on distributed storage innovations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Professional, non-internship software development experience and software development experience within the last three years.
- Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design.
- Experience leading the architecture and design of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Preferred: experience with the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Preferred: experience debugging, profiling, and applying software engineering best practices in large-scale systems.
- Preferred: knowledge of databases, storage, and big data concepts.
- Preferred: experience with performance and scalability testing.
