Responsibilities
- Design and implement Route 53 DNS solutions using latency-based routing, Private DNS, Geo DNS, health checks, and failover architectures.
- Write production-quality automation, monitoring, and operational tooling to improve DNS change propagation and team effectiveness.
- Integrate Route 53 with the broader AWS ecosystem and participate in architectural reviews and cross-team technical sessions.
- Build runbooks, lead incident response, perform root-cause analysis, and improve system reliability and operational excellence.
- Review code, mentor teammates, and contribute to engineering standards and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Australian citizenship and eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance, including successful completion of an Organisational Suitability Assessment.
- Knowledge of networking protocols including HTTP(S), DNS, and TCP/IP.
- Experience with automation or scripting languages such as Python, Java, Perl, PHP, Ruby, Bash, Shell, or equivalent.
- Experience with Linux operating systems and troubleshooting across application, network, and host layers.
- Operations experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment systems such as Terraform, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or equivalent.
- Preferred: experience designing maintainable, scalable, and secure operational scripts and reviewing scripting changes.
- Preferred: experience in a 24/7 production environment and with service-oriented architecture and web services.
