Responsibilities
- Build and own the facility-side energy control contract, including the protocol layer, gateway service, and third-party plant controller API.
- Design and evolve the messaging and state layer that calculates facility load intent from live telemetry and publishes it every second with a forecast.
- Own data contracts and engineering standards used by other teams across new sites and counterparties.
- Build the constraint execution path to determine what a facility can achieve and by when within seconds-level deadlines.
- Build production observability for per-stage latency, data staleness, watchdog health, and conformance.
- Design resilient interfaces, modules, failure domains, and tests for production services.
- Maintain data integrity across the signal chain from devices to databases and respond urgently to broken production pipelines.
Requirements
- Experience with high-throughput messaging systems such as NATS or Kafka at real scale.
- Experience designing time-series data models in ClickHouse, TimescaleDB, or comparable systems.
- Experience instrumenting production services with Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent observability tooling.
- Experience building and owning production services relied upon by other teams.
- Ability to design systems deliberately, explain architectural tradeoffs, and refactor systems when the original design no longer fits.
- Experience working across the full signal chain from device to database with strong attention to data integrity.
- Bonus experience with Go, NATS, Redis, DNP3, Modbus TCP, OPC UA, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, SCADA, EMS, power plant controllers, and real-time dashboarding.
Benefits
- The company emphasizes pay equity and transparency.
- The role operates in a high-autonomy, high-urgency environment focused on large-scale AI infrastructure.
