Base Salary
$113k - $252k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and scale high-performance, fault-tolerant backend microservices for global travel and expense transactions.
- Drive complex cross-functional engineering initiatives from conception through production deployment and establish technical standards.
- Build APIs, asynchronous event-driven architectures, caching strategies, and scalable data pipelines focused on latency, availability, and operational excellence.
- Partner with product management, engineering leadership, data, and platform teams to deliver enterprise-grade technical solutions.
- Improve observability, production debugging, and reliability for critical Tier 1 services.
- Mentor engineers, lead architecture reviews, and promote maintainable code, rigorous testing, and operational ownership.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience building and operating highly scalable, distributed production systems at enterprise or global scale.
- Deep backend engineering expertise in Java, TypeScript/Node.js, Python, or Go.
- Strong experience designing microservices, complex APIs, event-driven workflows, caching strategies, and distributed databases.
- Proven ability to drive technical vision and lead architecture for large, multi-team projects through production rollout.
- Exceptional systems observability, production debugging, and critical-service reliability skills.
- Product mindset with the ability to balance immediate delivery with long-term technical health and scalability.
- Experience with travel platforms, fintech, payment processing, or complex financial ledgers is a strong plus.
