Responsibilities
- Drive high-complexity software solutions from architectural design through production launch.
- Define technical roadmaps, scope, and execution strategies for large-scale engineering initiatives.
- Resolve distributed-systems design challenges and establish scalable architectural standards.
- Lead code reviews, technical documentation, and diagnosis of critical system defects.
- Set rigorous engineering review standards and best practices.
- Partner with engineering teams and cross-functional stakeholders on company-wide programs.
- Apply deep programming and domain expertise across evolving technology stacks.
- Mentor and develop engineering talent.
Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in software or technology architect roles with end-to-end SDLC ownership.
- Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in Computer Science.
- Deep production expertise with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch and Lucene indexing and query-execution internals.
- Experience designing tenant isolation, data partitioning, shard placement, routing, and capacity strategies for distributed search systems.
- Demonstrated improvements to search latency, indexing throughput, availability, and infrastructure efficiency using OpenSearch or similar search engines.
- Expertise in reliable ingestion, index freshness, data correctness, permission-aware search, and online reindexing.
- Experience with Lucene, Solr, or other search technologies.
- Technical depth in distributed architectures, cloud-native services, and asynchronous or event-driven systems, including PostgreSQL, Kafka, OpenSearch or Elasticsearch, and DynamoDB or relational data stores.
- Experience architecting, operating, and scaling high-throughput distributed systems and cloud services such as AWS or GCP.
- Hands-on familiarity with Java, Kotlin, or the Kubernetes ecosystem preferred.
