Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain production-grade R packages for clinical trial data engineering, statistical analysis, automation, and reporting.
  • Design, build, deploy, and maintain Shiny applications for interactive dashboards and data exploration.
  • Collaborate with statisticians, statistical programmers, clinical reporting teams, and Product Owners to translate requirements into reproducible tools.
  • Apply AI and agentic approaches responsibly to product design, development workflows, and data-driven applications.
  • Drive tooling adoption through demos, pilots, training, documentation, and support.
  • Identify opportunities to improve user experience, modernize workflows, and promote software development best practices.
  • Engage with open-source communities and document tools and processes.

Requirements

  • MSc in a quantitative or computational science, or equivalent.
  • Experience as an R developer.
  • Deep knowledge of data manipulation with tidyverse and data visualization with ggplot2 and plotly.
  • Experience developing production-grade R packages with comprehensive documentation and rigorous testing frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and maintaining R applications in production environments.
  • High proficiency in Shiny application development and deployment.
  • Deep experience with software development practices including virtual environments, git, CI/CD, and code review.
  • Hands-on experience applying AI and agentic approaches to improve developer productivity for data-driven applications.
  • Good written English and a collaborative, solution-oriented approach.
  • Desirable: understanding of the drug development process and regulatory requirements for computer systems and tools.
  • Desirable: knowledge of Quarto, workflow automation, or metadata-driven reporting.
  • Desirable: participation in pharmaceutical open-source projects such as R Consortium, pharmaverse, openpharma, or openstatware.

  • Annual base salary range of £57,050.00–£105,950.00.
  • Performance-based bonus eligibility may apply.
