Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Define and drive the technical vision and end-to-end architecture for entitlement, usage-metering, overage, and billing systems.
- Maintain data models and integration contracts across finance, sales/CRM, engineering, and customer-facing portals.
- Design for correctness across billing cycles, dispute SLAs, reconciliation windows, consistency, latency, and ownership boundaries.
- Own production reliability through on-call participation, root-cause analysis, and resolution of systemic issues.
- Shape billing and metering strategies for AI-driven products, including token-based consumption, agentic workflows, and MCP-based agent actions.
- Lead complex technical decisions and design reviews, establish architecture standards, and mentor senior and staff engineers.
- Partner with Product, Finance, Sales Operations, and Engineering leadership to align the platform roadmap with business needs.
Requirements
- 12+ years of engineering experience or equivalent depth, including significant distributed-systems architecture experience.
- Production-scale backend development experience in Java, Python, Go, or equivalent.
- Domain expertise in billing, licensing, or metering systems across finance, sales, and engineering contexts.
- Strong distributed-systems fundamentals, including consistency, fault tolerance, idempotency, exactly-once processing, stream and batch data pipelines, telemetry, and event ingestion.
- Strong database and data-modeling fundamentals, including schema design, performance tuning, and OLTP/OLAP trade-offs.
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration, including deployment topologies, scaling, resource management, and stateful production services.
- Experience architecting systems spanning multiple teams or organizations with defined ownership boundaries.
- Hands-on engineering ability to prototype, validate architectural decisions through code, and contribute to critical-path components.
- Ability to operate as a Principal individual contributor through technical credibility, collaboration, and influence rather than formal authority.
- Preferred experience with enterprise SaaS licensing or subscription-management platforms, usage-based billing integrations, AI or agentic pricing and metering models, MCP-based products, or M&A technical integration.
