Responsibilities
- Design and develop Java, SQL, and PL/SQL solutions for an ecommerce payments gateway.
- Build secure, clean, testable distributed applications for a high-capacity, mission-critical 24/7 platform.
- Collaborate with software and quality assurance engineers through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentoring.
- Work with UK and US engineers and cross-functional colleagues across the software development lifecycle.
- Contribute to retrospectives, technical-debt resolution, and improvements to team and department practices.
- Provide periodic out-of-hours availability for release support and deployment.
Requirements
- Experience building secure, clean, and testable Java-based distributed applications in Linux.
- Strong understanding of relational database concepts, including Oracle, DDL, and SQL.
- Knowledge of software architecture and industry design patterns.
- Experience with large codebases and version control systems.
- Essential skills include Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, REST APIs, Spring Boot, JBoss, J2EE, JSP, Servlets, Gradle or Maven, Oracle, networking, Git, GitHub, and Linux.
- Preferred experience includes C/C++, payment technologies, Angular, AlpineJS, Bootstrap, database tools, TypeScript, TLS, PKI, Apache configuration, Docker or Podman, Selenium, JUnit, XML, JSON, YAML, AWS, Azure, SSO, MFA, CI/CD pipelines, Snyk, and Checkmarx.
- Bonus qualifications include knowledge of cryptography, secure inter-application communication, high availability and capacity systems, agile frameworks, BDD, and AI tools.
