Responsibilities
- Identify and ship cloud savings across AWS and GCP, taking opportunities from analysis through realized savings.
- Build and maintain tagging policies, cost allocation, chargeback, and showback systems.
- Automate cost reporting, anomaly detection, alerting, and cost-policy enforcement with scripts and infrastructure as code.
- Partner with Engineering on cost-conscious architecture and product decisions.
- Work with Finance on forecasting, budget tracking, reporting, and financial KPIs.
- Present savings analyses and cost tradeoffs to engineering, finance, and leadership audiences.
Requirements
- Strong AWS expertise and working knowledge of GCP, including pricing models, billing structures, and cost-optimization mechanics.
- Automation and scripting experience with Python, Terraform or Pulumi, Lambda, or Bash.
- Familiarity with AWS Cost Explorer, Cost and Usage Reports, GCP Billing Reports, and BI or dashboarding tools such as Hex.
- Ability to analyze cost data and communicate it clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Prior experience in FinOps, cloud cost management, or cloud governance.
- Experience with Linear and Notion, or willingness to learn them for tracking and documentation.
- Experience with dedicated cloud cost-management platforms such as CloudZero or Vantage is preferred but not required.
