Responsibilities
- Participate as a full member of the assigned engineering team, including team discussions, decisions, and technical design.
- Write production software that has meaningful impact on Stripe’s business and users.
- Give and receive technical feedback through code reviews and design discussions.
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to seek and incorporate feedback.
- Learn unfamiliar systems, communicate project status clearly, and use AI tooling with rigorous review and validation.
Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related discipline, with a strong foundation in computer science.
- Programming experience through coursework, side projects, internships, or other relevant work; Stripe primarily uses Ruby, Java, JavaScript, Go, and Scala.
- Experience with previous internships or multi-person projects, including open-source contributions, demonstrating the ability to evaluate and receive feedback.
- Ability to learn unfamiliar systems through independent research and mentorship.
- Ability to use AI tools to accelerate development while applying critical thinking and professional judgment to review, refine, and validate outputs.
- Preferred: at least one year of university education or equivalent work experience, specialized technical knowledge, high-quality pull requests and test coverage, familiarity with multi-language codebases, and clear written communication.
