Base Salary

$190k - $252k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Shape the technical direction of a small team while remaining hands-on in software design, implementation, and code review.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through pair programming, code reviews, technical guidance, and architecture discussions.
  • Write production-quality C++ and Python for mission-critical systems.
  • Prototype software solutions and guide them from research and experimentation through deployed tactical implementation.
  • Develop high-performance software spanning tactical systems and web applications.
  • Use high-fidelity modeling, simulation environments, analysis tools, and analytical techniques to quantify technology benefits.
  • Lead technical interchange meetings, sprint planning, and customer engagements.
  • Own the software development lifecycle and help the team navigate ambiguity and technical trade-offs.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership while remaining a hands-on individual contributor.
  • Experience working with large, complex codebases in collaborative teams.
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
  • Direct air and missile defense experience, including areas such as multi-target tracking, sensor fusion, threat classification, kill chain development, or command-and-control systems.
  • Experience with big data, NoSQL, or database technologies.
  • Experience with software design, algorithm implementation, software analysis, testing, and optimization.
  • Knowledge of differential equations, linear algebra, optimization, statistics, and random processes.
  • Knowledge of controls, estimation theory, and digital signal processing.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance.
  • Preferred: experience leading small teams or technical workstreams while remaining a top individual contributor.
  • Preferred: track record of developing engineers through mentorship, code review culture, and technical coaching.
  • Preferred: experience with asynchronous, parallel, or GPU programming.
  • Preferred: experience deploying software to real-world tactical or edge environments.
