Base Salary
$121k - $171k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end architecture and low-level design for distributed, fault-tolerant, high-concurrency risk and position management systems.
- Write, review, profile, benchmark, and optimize production code primarily in modern Java for ultra-low-latency performance.
- Develop performance-critical components using C++ or Rust and support cross-language interoperability through JNI or FFI.
- Design resilient, low-latency event-driven pipelines using enterprise messaging backbones.
- Optimize CPU usage, memory layout, garbage collection overhead, network serialization, and interprocess communication.
- Translate quantitative risk models, margin methodologies, and regulatory requirements into scalable technical architectures.
- Act as a technical subject matter expert for risk managers, product owners, trading desks, quantitative analysts, operations, and technology partners.
- Coordinate with global engineering teams to support platform rollouts, operational stability, and architecture standards.
- Lead design reviews and peer code reviews, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
- Promote AI-assisted engineering workflows, including AI-driven code review and automated test generation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or university degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or an equivalent STEM discipline.
- Proficiency in modern Java, including Java 17/21+, JVM internals, memory management and profiling, lock-free data structures, concurrent programming, and low-latency tuning.
- Practical experience or working knowledge of C++ 14/17/20 and/or Rust for performance-critical or memory-safe systems.
- Experience designing distributed, event-driven, fault-tolerant, high-throughput systems and working with low-latency middleware.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Financial Engineering, or a related quantitative field is desirable.
- Experience collaborating with trading, risk, quantitative, operations, and cross-functional technology stakeholders is relevant to the role.

- Primary location salary range is $120,800.00 - $170,800.00.
