Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement, and support secure, scalable, high-performing enterprise API solutions using Apigee.
- Manage the API lifecycle across design, development, security, deployment, monitoring, versioning, governance, and analytics.
- Build and document API integrations connecting enterprise applications, cloud platforms, SaaS systems, third-party vendors, and partner systems.
- Develop reusable API proxies, shared flows, flow hooks, security policies, API products, and common integration components.
- Implement API security, traffic management, authentication, authorization, rate limiting, caching, threat protection, message transformation, and logging.
- Troubleshoot production incidents and API performance, latency, scalability, and security issues, including root-cause analysis and optimization.
- Apply DevOps and CI/CD practices to API development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Support integration, performance, security, and user acceptance testing activities.
- Collaborate with business, security, infrastructure, application, architecture, and delivery teams on API-led connectivity solutions.
- Manage technical risks, dependencies, mitigation plans, customer escalations, and technical solution specifications.
- Contribute to proofs of concept, code reviews, organizational accelerators, reusable frameworks, process improvements, and governance standards.
- Mentor junior developers and team members and independently handle customer interactions.
Requirements
- College degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum three years of experience in API development, integration, and API management projects.
- Hands-on Apigee implementation experience on at least two enterprise-scale projects, with strong experience in Apigee Edge and/or Apigee X.
- Experience designing RESTful APIs and API-first architectures, including API proxies, shared flows, flow hooks, API products, developers, apps, and monetization concepts.
- Experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, SAML, API keys, mutual TLS, and SSL/TLS.
- Strong JavaScript knowledge and experience with policy-based API development within Apigee.
- Experience integrating ERP, CRM, SaaS, cloud-native, and enterprise applications using REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, OpenAPI/Swagger, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with API logging, monitoring, performance troubleshooting, production support, incident management, and root-cause analysis.
- Experience with CI/CD tools, automated deployment pipelines, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure.
- Understanding of API governance, API analytics, developer portals, API lifecycle management, enterprise integration patterns, and API security.
- Experience working in Agile Scrum and DevOps environments and ability to manage technical risks and communicate across business, technical, and leadership teams.
- Preferred qualifications include Apigee API Engineer or Google Cloud certifications, IBM API Connect, DataPower, Kafka, Pub/Sub, Terraform, JIRA, Azure DevOps, Confluence, project audits, project reviews, project metrics, API monetization, partner onboarding, and enterprise architecture frameworks.
