Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement, and support secure, scalable, high-performing enterprise API solutions using Apigee.
- Manage the API lifecycle, including design, development, security, deployment, monitoring, versioning, governance, and documentation.
- Build API integrations between enterprise applications, cloud platforms, third-party vendors, and partner systems.
- Implement reusable API proxies, shared flows, flow hooks, security policies, API products, and common integration components.
- Implement traffic management, authentication, authorization, rate limiting, caching, threat protection, message transformation, and logging capabilities.
- Troubleshoot production issues and resolve API performance, latency, scalability, security, and operational stability problems.
- Apply API governance standards, security compliance, enterprise integration patterns, DevOps, and CI/CD practices.
- Support integration, performance, security, and user acceptance testing.
- Deliver proofs of concept, conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and contribute to reusable frameworks, accelerators, and process improvements.
- Communicate technical risks, dependencies, mitigation plans, and customer escalations with architects, delivery managers, and leadership teams.
Requirements
- College degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in API development, integration, and API management projects.
- Hands-on Apigee development experience, including implementation on at least 2 enterprise-scale projects and experience with Apigee Edge and/or Apigee X.
- Experience designing RESTful APIs and API-first architectures, including API proxies, shared flows, flow hooks, API products, developers, apps, and monetization concepts.
- Experience implementing OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, SAML, API keys, mTLS, and SSL/TLS security standards.
- Experience integrating enterprise applications, ERP systems, CRM applications, SaaS platforms, and cloud-native services.
- Experience with REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, OpenAPI/Swagger, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with API performance troubleshooting, production support, incident management, root cause analysis, API governance, and API lifecycle management.
- Experience with logging and monitoring platforms such as Splunk, ELK, Dynatrace, Grafana, or Cloud Monitoring.
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools and deployment automation, including Jenkins, GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, and Maven.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure.
- Experience working in Agile Scrum and DevOps environments and ability to manage technical risks and customer escalations.
- Strong written and verbal communication, analytical thinking, documentation, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
- Apigee API Engineer Certification or related Google Cloud certifications is preferred.
- Experience with IBM API Connect, DataPower, Kafka, Pub/Sub, Terraform, project management tools, API monetization, partner onboarding, enterprise architecture frameworks, or digital transformation programs is advantageous.
