Base Salary
$117k - $174k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain backend architecture and services supporting NBA 2K online features.
- Design and optimize distributed systems for scalability, reliability, and fault tolerance.
- Develop large-scale computing solutions capable of handling millions of concurrent players.
- Create efficient database structures and queries for high-volume, real-time transactions.
- Deliver high-performance backend services focused on low latency and stability.
- Partner with engineering and design teams to support seamless online gameplay experiences.
- Research, evaluate, and integrate emerging technologies to improve team capabilities, platform performance, and product innovation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience focused on backend and server-side systems.
- Strong proficiency in C++ and object-oriented programming principles.
- Proficiency in one or more scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Perl, or Ruby, with preference for Python and JavaScript.
- Understanding of distributed and scalable systems and experience with multithreaded programming.
- Experience optimizing databases, including connection management and query performance tuning.
- Working knowledge of SQL databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL or similar systems.
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience in large-scale software development.
- Familiarity with online gaming architectures and services for live, connected player experiences.
- Experience developing secure transaction systems, including virtual currency and account-based features, is a strong plus.
- Video game console development experience is highly beneficial.
- Passion for video games.
