Responsibilities
- Lead data pipeline and infrastructure design and implementation for underwriting models, claims processing, and operational reporting
- Own data warehouse architecture and balance analytical performance, operational needs, and scalability
- Set standards for data modeling, pipeline development, and data quality
- Identify data stack bottlenecks and improve reliability, latency, and scalability
- Partner with engineering, product, and operations teams to translate data needs into systems
- Build monitoring, alerting, and data quality frameworks
- Drive data governance, documentation, lineage tracking, and access controls
- Mentor and coach engineers on technical growth and ownership
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and maintaining production data pipelines and infrastructure at scale
- Strong proficiency with Snowflake, dbt, and Airflow or similar orchestration tools
- Deep experience with Python for data processing and pipeline development
- Expert understanding of data modeling practices including dimensional modeling, slowly changing dimensions, and data vault
- Familiarity with AWS data services and infrastructure-as-code
- Demonstrated ownership, agency, and ability to drive work through completion
- Track record of building reliable systems while balancing speed and caution
- Experience mentoring engineers and improving team capabilities
