Base Salary

$150k - $226k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain critical backend software in a Java environment.
  • Write functional specifications and design documents for new features.
  • Own key system components and their delivered quality.
  • Design and implement scalable backend solutions for distributed systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex problems in distributed computing and production environments.
  • Conduct peer reviews of specifications, designs, and code.
  • Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineers, DevOps, and cross-functional teams on deployments and production issues.
  • Work in short release cycles with iterative development and customer feedback.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience developing highly scalable, distributed applications, products, and backend services using Java.
  • Experience with relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong understanding of how distributed, resilient software is built and deployed.
  • Experience with SQL query tuning and performance optimization is a plus.
  • Experience with search frameworks such as Elasticsearch or SOLR is a plus.
  • Experience with applications hosted on AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD processes is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and software design skills.
