Responsibilities
- Deliver features and architectural improvements for automated moderation pipelines, Reviewer tools, DevHub, and Add-ons application systems.
- Build and maintain Python/Django, MySQL, React, and TypeScript application systems and asynchronous processing workflows.
- Create internal developer platforms and tools that help teams develop, deploy, observe, and operate software safely and consistently.
- Improve CI/CD pipelines through declarative, pipeline-as-code approaches and support automated testing, staged delivery, and deployment workflows.
- Develop observability systems using metrics, logging, tracing, service-level objectives, and actionable alerting.
- Contribute to platform reliability through deployments, monitoring, incident response, on-call practices, recoverability, and production readiness.
- Establish engineering standards, including code review, runbooks, documentation, operational readiness, and definitions of done.
- Debug complex production issues across frontend, backend, asynchronous jobs, data stores, and infrastructure, and turn findings into lasting improvements.
- Collaborate with engineers, reviewers, developer support, Add-ons leadership, designers, product managers, QA, and community contributors.
- Provide peer feedback, share knowledge, mentor colleagues, and contribute technical documentation such as design notes, ADRs, runbooks, and incident reports.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining production applications with Python and Django.
- Experience operating and improving production software systems where reliability and safe delivery matter.
- Strong experience with CI/CD systems and declarative infrastructure and pipeline practices.
- Experience designing or improving automated testing and deployment workflows, including integration testing and staged or progressive delivery.
- Strong understanding of observability, including metrics, logging, tracing, service-level objectives, and actionable alerting.
- Experience building or maintaining internal tools or platforms used by engineering teams.
- Experience improving engineering practices such as code review standards, operational readiness, runbooks, incident response, on-call expectations, and definitions of done.
- Ability to understand unfamiliar codebases and trace application behavior across frontend, backend, asynchronous jobs, data stores, and infrastructure.
- Experience debugging complex production issues and implementing lasting system improvements.
- Strong technical writing, collaboration, communication, and knowledge-sharing skills in a distributed team environment.
- Bonus experience with Google Cloud, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, policy-as-code, SLOs, error budgets, chaos engineering, disaster recovery testing, production readiness reviews, trust and safety, automated moderation, abuse prevention, adversarial systems, or open-source contributions.
