$240k - $299k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set long-term architecture strategy for the event-driven platform and reduce systemic technical debt.
- Lead strategically critical initiatives spanning multiple teams and verticals over multi-quarter timelines.
- Establish reusable patterns and trade-off frameworks for building, operating, and scaling systems.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex distributed-systems problems and high-stakes incidents.
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leaders and raise the organization’s technical standards.
- Partner with product and business leaders to define technical strategy and build consensus.
- Set standards for testing, observability, incident response, and platform resilience.
- Represent the organization through technical writing, conference talks, and open-source contributions.
Requirements
- 15+ years of overall software engineering experience, including 10+ years operating at Senior Staff level or above and owning technical design for large, cross-team projects.
- Experience leading multi-team or multi-vertical programs over multiple quarters with minimal oversight.
- Ability to identify business-critical problems and build the case for new investment independently.
- Track record of creating technical patterns or standards adopted by other teams.
- Experience mentoring Staff and Senior Staff engineers toward technical leadership.
- Strong experience leading through incidents and operational risk with a focus on systemic hardening.
- Excellent communication and consensus-building skills across engineering, business, and executive stakeholders.
- Preferred: experience with payments, identity, loyalty, regulated gaming or fintech environments, organizational convergence, platform consolidation, large-scale architectural migration, SOX, PCI, or similar control frameworks.
