Staff Software Engineer, Search Platform

Responsibilities

  • Work with Product Managers to analyze requirements and create technical solutions and execution plans.
  • Design, implement, and deliver production-grade streaming ingestion using Flink or similar technologies.
  • Solve challenges in timely computation, stateful stream processing, partitioning, and resilience while addressing technical bottlenecks.
  • Contribute to critical code, design, and performance reviews to raise the team’s technical standards.
  • Partner with technical leads to build a backlog supporting roadmap execution.
  • Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and product development teams to translate business requirements into robust engineering solutions.

Requirements

  • More than 7 years of backend development experience and experience developing large-scale distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, C++, Python, or similar coding and scripting languages, with strong software and system design abilities.
  • Deep familiarity with the standard library, idiomatic usage, and best practices of a primary programming language.
  • In-depth knowledge of storage and streaming using PostgreSQL or Kafka.
  • Preferred: experience with event-driven architecture, parallelization, large-scale data processing pipelines, and search engines.
  • Preferred: exposure to microservice architectures, observability, and cloud-native infrastructure such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Preferred: experience integrating AI-powered search enhancements such as embeddings, semantic search, or re-ranking models.
