Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize enterprise database solutions using Oracle and PostgreSQL.
- Build and support high-volume OLTP systems handling large transactional workloads.
- Develop data models, complex SQL queries, PL/SQL, stored procedures, views, and database objects.
- Partner with application teams on integrated solutions using Java, JDBC, JMS, and related technologies.
- Support AWS cloud modernization and cloud-native data platform initiatives.
- Implement database change management, schema deployments, and version control using Liquibase, Git, and GitHub.
- Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
- Support data integration through APIs, SFTP, batch processing, ETL/ELT, and replication technologies.
- Ensure data quality, security, access controls, resiliency, and operational reliability.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum planning, design discussions, Jira-based delivery execution, and related ceremonies.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, product owners, and business partners on scalable technical solutions.
- Mentor junior team members and promote engineering best practices, documentation, and technical excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, database development, or related technical roles.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale applications in high-volume, transactional environments.
- Strong Oracle database development experience, preferably Oracle 19c or higher.
- Hands-on production experience with PostgreSQL and advanced SQL and PL/SQL development.
- Strong data modeling, database design, OLTP, performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting experience.
- Hands-on Java development experience, including JDBC and JMS.
- Experience with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
- Experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native data platforms.
- Experience with database change management and deployment tools such as Liquibase.
- Familiarity with Git, GitHub, Jira, and Agile/Scrum delivery practices.
- Ability to solve complex technical problems in large-scale, mission-critical environments and communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Preferred experience with modernization, cloud transformation, application migration, financial services, capital markets, post-trade processing, or settlement.
- Preferred experience with Snowflake, Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, Jenkins, Oracle GoldenGate, Python, Perl, Oracle RAC, Toad, or Erwin Data Modeler.
