Responsibilities
- Lead the design and evolution of AI agent architecture, patterns, frameworks, and standards.
- Define the strategy for using models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, including evaluation and model-selection criteria.
- Design safe and effective systems for agent tool use, external APIs, web searches, database queries, and domain-specific operations.
- Evaluate frameworks such as Vercel’s AI SDK and LangGraph and establish organizational best practices.
- Partner with engineering, product, and design teams to align AI initiatives with business objectives and influence roadmaps.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and improve AI engineering practices across the organization.
- Define data collection, curation, analysis, and evaluation methodologies for agent responses and multi-turn conversations.
- Build and steward evaluation harnesses tied to business objectives and KPIs.
- Lead experimentation with prompting, context handling, fine-tuning, and emerging NLP and LLM techniques.
- Represent StackBlitz in conferences, external forums, and community discussions when appropriate.
Requirements
- Familiarity with TypeScript and willingness to work in TypeScript daily.
- Extensive hands-on experience with LLMs and a proven record of building and scaling production AI systems.
- Deep expertise in prompt engineering across different tasks, models, and use cases.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience designing scalable systems.
- Ability to lead ambiguous, high-scope initiatives with minimal oversight and influence cross-team direction.
- Experience establishing data collection, analysis, and evaluation practices for AI systems.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Understanding of machine learning fundamentals and model evaluation metrics is a bonus.
- Familiarity with DSPy is a bonus.
- Open-source AI/ML contributions, research experience, and conference or technical-content experience are bonuses.
- A college degree is not required, and applicants do not need to meet every listed qualification.
