Responsibilities
- Contribute to robotics, autonomy, automation, simulation, architecture, or software engineering projects for intelligent Caterpillar equipment.
- Help develop technologies involving machine perception, autonomous decision-making, navigation, machine control, sensing, connectivity, and digital twins.
- Collaborate with Caterpillar employees and communicate technical ideas to audiences with varying technical backgrounds.
- Work independently and as part of a team while following company policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Must currently participate or have participated in a Caterpillar student program.
- Must be enrolled full time at a four-year university or college in computer science, robotics engineering, mechatronic engineering, or a related degree through the program.
- Must have completed at least 12 credit hours before the program begins and maintain a minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA without rounding.
- Must be able to relocate for the internship and commute daily using reliable transportation.
- Preferred qualifications include demonstrated leadership, prior technical internship, co-op or research experience, relevant coursework or projects, school-club participation, and experience with machine learning, deep learning, MATLAB, Creo, Simulink, or C++.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, initiative, intellectual curiosity, collaboration, and independent-working skills are preferred.
Benefits
- 40-hour-per-week internship lasting 12 weeks.
- Onsite work five days per week.
- Relocation is available, and benefits may include a housing stipend and relocation assistance.
