Base Salary

$150k - $165k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, reliability, and modernization of InstallShield projects, custom actions, and installer infrastructure.
  • Define versioning, rollback, silent-install contracts, and upgrade strategies for Dentrix desktop applications.
  • Troubleshoot installation and runtime issues across supported Windows environments.
  • Contribute to core clinical application components in C, C++, and C#.
  • Mentor engineers and establish best practices for packaging, deployment, automated install testing, and legacy-code modernization.
  • Support database schema management and collaborate with product managers, engineering, QA, DevOps, and support.
  • Own technical design decisions and define cross-team interdependent roadmaps.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly and champion AI-assisted engineering.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience building Windows desktop and backend enterprise applications with C#/.NET and C++.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with package-management tools, preferably InstallShield.
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows OS, Windows Installer (MSI), and registry and file-system operations.
  • Experience with object-oriented design, SOLID, clean and layered architecture, MVVM, dependency injection, and unit testing.
  • Ability to work across native and managed code, including C++/CLI or P/Invoke interoperability between C++ and C#.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills related to installation and runtime behavior.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional efforts across engineering, QA, DevOps, and support.
  • Ability to make technical design decisions and define cross-team roadmaps.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
  • Preferred experience includes technical leadership, dental or regulated healthcare data, legacy Win32 or MFC modernization, modern packaging frameworks, analytics instrumentation, CI/CD and build automation, digital signing, privilege handling, silent installs, and Faircom database.

  • Remote position in the United States with up to 10% travel as needed.
  • Base salary range of $150,000-$165,000, with eligibility for a bonus target.
