Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and deploy enhancements to HSBC’s electronic trading platform within timelines and quality standards.
- Take ownership of, support, and optimize software designed and developed by the team.
- Collaborate with software engineers working in other time zones.
- Reduce toil, technical debt, and repetitive work through automation.
- Apply profiling and metrics collection to support data-driven optimizations.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of hands-on software engineering experience with low-latency or real-time systems.
- Required proficiency in Java, including concurrency, tuning, and memory management.
- Good command of the Linux/UNIX command-line interface.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with a self-motivated approach.
- Solid object-oriented analysis and design knowledge and experience with test-driven development.
- Good spoken and written English for use as the working language.
- Preferred experience includes agentic AI for software maintenance, Podman or Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka or Aeron, data-driven optimization, and CI/CD techniques.
