Responsibilities
- Write, review, test, and ship production code for HSBC Productivity Suite.
- Design and deliver generative AI capabilities and integrations from requirements through production operation.
- Make technical design decisions, clarify ambiguity, and break complex requirements into actionable deliveries.
- Build secure, resilient, maintainable, observable, and production-ready services.
- Improve shared frameworks, platforms, and reusable capabilities while reducing duplication and technical debt.
- Promote safe and effective use of AI coding tools and agents across the software development lifecycle.
- Participate in production incidents, service restoration, incident reviews, and resulting improvements.
- Mentor engineers through pairing, design reviews, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and practical support.
- Inform technical direction through engineering expertise and evidence.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on software engineering experience designing, coding, testing, and operating significant applications or product capabilities.
- Strong Python expertise and practical knowledge of application programming interfaces, databases, containers, automated testing, and continuous integration and delivery.
- Experience using AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot to prototype, write, test, and review code safely.
- Experience building AI, machine-learning, or generative AI solutions and moving them from experimentation into secure, reliable production use.
- Practical knowledge of large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, evaluation, guardrails, observability, and responsible AI.
- Sound engineering judgment across performance, security, resilience, maintainability, accessibility, technical debt, and production operability.
- Ability to clarify ambiguous requirements and deliver robust solutions with limited oversight.
- Strong communication, collaboration, technical explanation, constructive challenge, and mentoring skills.
