Responsibilities
- Lead technical design discussions, document decisions and trade-offs, mentor engineers, and provide hands-on code reviews.
- Integrate LLM/GenAI capabilities, including RAG and prompt or agent patterns, into reproducible, testable, explainable, and auditable business workflows.
- Design, build, test, and operate scalable backend services and APIs primarily using Python and FastAPI.
- Define versioned, documented, and backward-compatible API contracts and integration patterns.
- Create reusable boundaries between product-specific functionality and platform capabilities.
- Design and implement batch and event-driven data ingestion and integration pipelines.
- Implement data quality, reconciliation, idempotency, retry, error-handling, recovery, lineage, metadata, and provenance controls.
- Build knowledge and retrieval capabilities using semantic models, knowledge graphs, or equivalent approaches.
- Apply automated testing, observability, resilience, secrets management, and incident or problem resolution practices.
- Collaborate across engineering, architecture, data, security, platform, and product teams in a regulated environment.
Requirements
- Significant senior backend engineering experience delivering and operating production services.
- Strong Python and FastAPI experience with strong API design, contract design, and versioning skills.
- Hands-on experience integrating GenAI or LLMs into applications, including RAG, retrieval, prompt lifecycle management, and evaluation or quality assurance.
- Experience with knowledge modeling, knowledge graphs, ontologies, semantic models, or equivalent approaches.
- Strong distributed-systems fundamentals and experience with synchronous and asynchronous service integration patterns.
- Strong relational database and SQL skills, including data modeling, schema migrations, and query performance tuning.
- Proven experience designing and building batch or event-driven data pipelines with orchestration, scheduling, retries, idempotency, validation, and recovery.
- Strong understanding of data quality and trust controls, including reconciliation, data contracts, schema evolution, lineage, metadata, and provenance.
- Cloud-native engineering experience with containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and platform or infrastructure service integration.
- Security engineering experience covering authentication, authorization, secure service-to-service communication, secrets handling, and sensitive-data protection.
- Strong production ownership, observability, and support practices including logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and incident investigation.
- Ability to lead design discussions, communicate trade-offs clearly, and work collaboratively across technical functions.
