Responsibilities
- Lead technical design discussions, document decisions and trade-offs, mentor engineers, and conduct hands-on code reviews.
- Design, build, test, and operate scalable backend services and APIs primarily using Python and FastAPI.
- Integrate LLM and GenAI capabilities, including RAG, retrieval, prompt and agent patterns, lifecycle management, and evaluation, into reproducible and auditable workflows.
- Define versioned API contracts, integration patterns, technical boundaries, and reusable platform capabilities.
- Design and implement batch and event-driven data ingestion and integration pipelines with validation, transformation, enrichment, reconciliation, retries, recovery, lineage, metadata, and provenance controls.
- Build knowledge and retrieval capabilities using semantic models, metadata, knowledge graphs, or equivalent approaches.
- Implement automated testing, observability, resilience, secrets and configuration management, and incident and problem resolution practices.
- Collaborate across engineering, architecture, data, security, platform, and product teams in a regulated environment.
Requirements
- Significant senior backend engineering experience delivering and operating production services.
- Strong Python skills and experience with modern API frameworks such as FastAPI.
- Strong REST API design skills, including contract design, versioning, documentation, and backward compatibility.
- Hands-on experience integrating GenAI or LLMs into applications, including RAG, retrieval, prompt lifecycle management, and evaluation or quality assurance.
- Familiarity with knowledge modeling, knowledge graphs, ontologies, semantic models, or equivalent approaches.
- Strong distributed-systems fundamentals and experience with synchronous and asynchronous service integration patterns.
- Strong relational database and SQL skills, including data modeling, schema migrations, query performance tuning, and structured and semi-structured data.
- Proven experience designing and building batch or event-driven data pipelines with orchestration, scheduling, retries, idempotency, validation, and recovery.
- Strong understanding of data quality and trust controls, including reconciliation, data contracts, schema evolution, lineage, metadata, and provenance.
- Cloud-native engineering experience with containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and platform or infrastructure services.
- Security engineering experience covering authentication, authorization, secure service-to-service communication, secrets handling, and sensitive-data protection.
- Production ownership experience with logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, observability, and incident investigation.
- Ability to lead design discussions, communicate trade-offs clearly, and collaborate across technical and business teams.
