Responsibilities
- Code and test new features, enhancements, and fixes as a hands-on individual contributor.
- Provide technical leadership for engineers delivering application design, builds, and upgrades to Collateral Technology architecture.
- Design scalable, resilient, maintainable systems using microservices, event-driven architectures, and monolith-to-microservice migrations.
- Set coding standards, lead code reviews, champion testing, and promote engineering best practices.
- Automate continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines within a DevSecOps product or service team.
- Improve availability, performance, resiliency, developer productivity, and engineering process consistency.
- Identify IT and business risks and opportunities and ensure applicable controls, standards, and architectural requirements are met.
- Promote innovation and adoption of current tools, frameworks, technologies, and technical direction.
Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on relevant experience developing and implementing software solutions using Java, microservices, APIs, and third-party product integrations.
- Current hands-on experience translating user requirements into functional code and managing the full software development lifecycle from design through production.
- Strong backend experience with microservice architecture, Java 17/21/25, Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Integration, and REST APIs.
- Experience working in Agile and DevSecOps environments and improving developer productivity through automation and reusability.
- Experience using AI coding assistants and designing applications alongside architects and platform stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of design patterns, microservice design principles, IT risk management, security threats and vulnerabilities, credential management, and related controls.
- Preferred experience with cloud-native development; Oracle, PostgreSQL, or HBase; JUnit, Selenium, and Robot Framework; infrastructure, networking, databases, caching, monitoring, observability, load balancing, and site reliability engineering.
- Preferred experience with Prometheus, InfluxDB, Grafana, AppDynamics, Splunk, OpenTelemetry, MQ, Solace, Apache Kafka, Apache Beam, Apache Spark, object stores, Kubernetes, Helm Charts, and GCP services.
