Responsibilities
- Design and deliver the current and next generation of Astronomer’s production platform.
- Own systems for building, testing, and deploying code in a high-scale PaaS environment.
- Collaborate across the company on production system design, technology choices, standards, and system integration.
- Develop Platform and Reliability practices with an emphasis on safe, predictable, and reliable delivery.
- Participate in platform decision-making, incident management, and periodic on-call rotations.
- Create and maintain comprehensive internal documentation for systems and processes.
- Estimate work, coordinate with stakeholders, identify risks, and support successful project delivery.
Requirements
- Strong experience designing and implementing non-abstract systems.
- Strong proficiency in Python and Golang and in-depth Kubernetes experience, with CKA or equivalent knowledge preferred.
- Experience with observability principles and technologies, including defining and tracking SLI and SLO metrics.
- Experience collaborating and delivering work with globally distributed teams.
- Passion for reliability and operational excellence, with a focus on reducing toil.
- Experience with software development practices including code review, testing, CI/CD, version control, automation, and debugging.
- Proactive ownership and accountability in identifying and addressing issues.
- Bonus experience with SaaS or PaaS products across multiple cloud providers.
- Bonus familiarity with CircleCI, Chronosphere, Prometheus, Splunk, Bazel, Istio, Playwright, Karpenter, GitHub Actions, AWS, GCP, Azure, and Apache Airflow.
