Responsibilities
- Design, build, maintain, and operate scalable core APIs and backend services.
- Own production-system operations and monitoring.
- Integrate third-party systems and APIs into the platform.
- Design and implement new features and services.
- Identify best practices and propose engineering standards for the department.
- Document and demonstrate solutions through documentation, diagrams, charts, comments, and clear code.
- Mentor junior colleagues and onboard new joiners.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, business stakeholders, and cross-functional product squads.
- Present insights, achievements, and results in relevant meetings.
- Occasionally propagate backend changes to frontend applications.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience designing and building scalable backend services in modern production environments.
- Strong proficiency in Go and deep understanding of distributed systems and service-oriented architecture.
- Strong SQL knowledge and relational database design experience.
- General frontend knowledge and ability to perform basic frontend application tasks.
- Strong ownership, initiative, communication, collaboration, and self-directed learning abilities.
- Excellent English skills and residence in a European time zone.
- Based in Europe, including the UK, with a valid right to work.
- A Computer Science or related degree is desired, or equivalent work experience.
