Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and build high-performance distributed systems and platform components.
- Develop scalable distributed data ingestion, transformation, and data lake solutions.
- Create foundational libraries, frameworks, and tools with strong modularity, extensibility, configurability, and maintainability.
- Deliver clean, reusable code and enforce code reviews, unit testing, automation, and design review practices.
- Lead complex technical initiatives and provide technical leadership across engineering teams.
- Research and adopt technologies that improve platform capabilities.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex production issues across distributed systems.
- Design and operate platforms using Kubernetes, Apache Iceberg, Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, and Apache Spark.
Requirements
- 12+ years of hands-on engineering experience with a bachelor's degree, 8+ years with a master's degree, 6+ years with a PhD, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong distributed systems architecture, design patterns, algorithms, concurrency, networking, sockets, operating systems, and performance optimization knowledge.
- Deep Java programming expertise, including JVM internals, memory models, garbage collection, profiling, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on expertise with Helm, including chart authoring, templating, and overlay layering across environments.
- Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems and designing replication, fault-tolerant, and high-availability strategies.
- Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with DevOps environments, GitOps, release engineering, and Kubernetes-native services.
- Expertise with Apache Iceberg, Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, and Apache Spark, including their respective deployment, storage, streaming, and optimization capabilities.
- Experience with Parquet, ORC, Avro, data compaction, governance, scalable ingestion, and integration with analytics engines, query services, or ML platforms.
- Ability to consider and integrate AI into engineering work, operational tooling, or workflow automation.
- Must pass the required USFedPASS background, credit, criminal/misdemeanor, and drug screening.
