Responsibilities
- Develop embedded software in constrained timing and memory environments to prototype new storage innovations.
- Design and implement reusable firmware code, debug and root-cause issues, and validate firmware architectures and implementations.
- Develop firmware algorithms and mechanisms for Flash Translation Layer mapping, garbage collection, workload optimization, performance quality of service, and data placement.
- Collaborate with architects and IP leads to define firmware scope and implementation details aligned with delivery milestones.
- Create evaluation metrics, collect data, analyze technical tradeoffs, and recommend firmware architecture and implementation approaches.
- Perform unit and integration testing, benchmarking, systems integration, and other validation activities as needed.
- Support customer requirements definition, clarification, and technical assessment.
- Contribute to project planning, estimation, risk management, and communication of technical designs.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of software or firmware development, integration, and validation experience in embedded systems.
- Experience programming in C and C++.
- Experience developing embedded firmware running in a real-time operating system with hardware and software interactions.
- Experience with firmware development environments including compilers, debuggers, emulators, and toolchains.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred proficiency in Python and Linux scripting for data parsing, automation, and processing.
- Preferred experience with enterprise fabric and storage interface protocols such as PCIe, NVMe, Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and InfiniBand.
- Preferred experience with source control and code review systems such as Git.
- Preferred experience developing unit tests for code coverage and quality validation.
- Ability to work creatively and analytically, investigate different technical areas, manage multiple priorities independently, and collaborate with distributed teams.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including documenting designs and communicating technical concepts effectively.
