Responsibilities
- Validate analytical datasets in Databricks for correctness, consistency, and BI readiness.
- Test data reliability across sources, refresh cycles, and edge cases.
- Design SQL transformations and consolidate multiple sources into analytical datasets optimized for Tableau.
- Use Python, PySpark, dbt, and Dagster for automation, data processing, orchestration, monitoring, and repeatable backend BI workflows.
- Advise Tableau frontend professionals on datasets, tables, query structure, filters, performance, and scalability.
- Review BI use cases and collaborate with Data Engineers and frontend BI professionals across the delivery lifecycle.
- Contribute to BI standards, continuous improvement, documentation, and best practices.
Requirements
- Intermediate or advanced SQL skills, including complex joins, aggregations, case logic, and window functions.
- Hands-on experience validating and working with analytical data in Databricks or another cloud-based platform.
- Understanding of analytical data modeling and how Tableau consumes data.
- Practical Python experience for data processing or automation.
- Familiarity with PySpark, dbt, Dagster, or similar tools and frameworks.
- Ability to design backend BI solutions with frontend performance and usability in mind.
- Preferred experience with Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks SQL, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Preferred familiarity with data governance, testing, monitoring, and Git version control.
