Responsibilities
- Design and develop performance-optimized ABAP solutions for SAP HANA using HANA pushdown principles.
- Build data models with CDS views, associations, annotations, semantic definitions, and authorization concepts.
- Implement performance-critical logic with AMDP and SQLScript.
- Develop modular ABAP code, services, and APIs using modern design, OData, versioning, and contract-first practices.
- Build AI-enabled SAP experiences using LLM tool calling, retrieval grounding, prompts, context assembly, deterministic fallbacks, and governed action workflows.
- Create automated unit, integration, and contract tests plus AI evaluation harnesses and regression monitoring.
- Implement AI guardrails including authorization-aware filtering, redaction, action confirmations, and audit logs.
- Instrument systems with logs, metrics, and traces; design error handling, retries, idempotency, correlation IDs, and safe failure modes.
- Support incident response with runbooks and structured diagnostics.
- Integrate SAP services with SAP and non-SAP ecosystems through event-driven patterns, API gateways, and enterprise integration layers.
- Collaborate with UX, integration, data, and platform teams to deliver scalable production solutions.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional experience.
- 15 years of full-time education.
- Strong hands-on expertise in ABAP development on HANA, including performance tuning, pushdown, and efficient SQL access patterns.
- Proficiency with CDS views and modern data modeling, including associations, annotations, and authorization concepts.
- Experience with AMDP and SQLScript for controlled code pushdown.
- Strong software engineering discipline, including clean design, testing, and production readiness.
- Ability to build AI-native capabilities involving LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and safety boundaries.
- Experience or knowledge of OData and service design, API lifecycle management, and contract-first development is strongly beneficial.
- Experience integrating SAP backends with cloud runtimes and enterprise integration platforms is beneficial.
- Familiarity with benchmarking, load testing, query-plan tuning, SAP security, authorizations, and compliance is beneficial.
