Base Salary
$154k - $217k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize LLVM-based code generation for Meta’s custom machine learning accelerators.
- Apply JIT compilation, dynamic code generation, and optimization techniques to build high-performance accelerator simulation infrastructure.
- Develop compiler passes, optimizations, transformations, intermediate representations, libraries, and analysis tools within LLVM/MLIR.
- Review code and designs, evaluate generated code quality, debug cross-disciplinary system issues, and improve compiler efficiency, scalability, and stability.
- Collaborate with internal compiler teams and the open-source LLVM community to evaluate and incorporate innovations.
- Mentor engineers on compiler engineering practices and help improve engineering quality across the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of experience developing compilers or code-optimization software, with demonstrated technical leadership.
- Proficiency in C++ or Rust and experience with large-scale software development, debugging, testing, and performance analysis.
- Experience with LLVM/MLIR or a comparable production compiler codebase such as GCC or MSVC.
- Experience designing and delivering significant compiler features or optimization passes end to end.
- Experience driving cross-team technical initiatives, influencing roadmap decisions, and working across hardware, machine learning frameworks, and runtime systems.
- Experience developing AI frameworks or accelerating deep learning models on hardware architectures.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and raise a team’s technical bar.
- Preferred experience contributing to upstream LLVM or MLIR and using AI tools to improve workflows.
- Preferred familiarity with SIMD, GPU, RISC-V, AI accelerators, DSPs, PyTorch, TensorFlow, graph compilers, machine-code generation, instruction selection, register allocation, instruction scheduling, operator fusion, tiling, and quantization-aware compilation.
- Preferred experience with responsible and ethical AI practices, ongoing AI skill development, and cross-functional communication.
Benefits
- Annual base salary of $154,003 to $217,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
