Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Support development and analysis of flight software requirements and coordinate related documentation.
- Identify flight software risks and vulnerabilities and develop mitigation plans with recommended cybersecurity controls.
- Develop and maintain interface, requirements traceability, and other flight software engineering documentation.
- Facilitate milestone reviews, coordinate closure of Review Item Dispositions, and track software bugs and defects.
- Support trade studies, analyses, assessments, flight software integration, testing, and verification.
- Provide guidance on NASA Spacecraft Software Engineering Team standards and processes for Class A safety-critical software.
- Interface with NASA and prime contractor engineering teams and present at NASA software boards.
- Develop software tools and scripts as needed.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, computer, or software engineering, computer science, or a related discipline is required.
- At least five years of related software systems engineering experience with real-time safety-critical software is required.
- Cybersecurity experience is desired, including compliance assessments, threat modeling, countermeasures, and cybersecurity risk reporting.
- Experience with NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5 security controls and the Risk Management Framework defined in NIST SP 800-37 Rev. 2 is desired.
- Experience with security control testing, compliance evidence, assessment findings, safety-critical human-rated software, NASA SSET processes, CMMI Level 3 or higher, and human-rated space vehicle flight software is desired.
- Experience with object-oriented C++, Python, hardware/software integration, NASA core Flight System, flight software verification, vehicle systems, vehicle operations, and software configuration management tools is desired.
- Strong communication, coordination, organization, teamwork, flexibility, and ability to manage multiple priorities with limited supervision are required.
