Responsibilities
- Set the technical direction for the team's agentic systems.
- Discover and prioritize sources of friction across GitLab's SDLC.
- Work across any part of GitLab's codebase as needed.
- Apply distributed systems judgment to ensure code reliability.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers on best practices.
- Collaborate with the India-based group on roadmap alignment.
- Own the Technical Leadership round for hiring new staff engineers.
- Establish a greenfield technical foundation from day one.
Requirements
- Experience building reliable agentic or LLM-based systems.
- Ability to work autonomously in unfamiliar codebases.
- Strong fundamentals in distributed systems and computer science.
- Proficiency in Go, Rust, or Python, with the ability to read and modify code in others.
- Track record of delivering results from unclear or incomplete requirements.
- Experience designing evaluation frameworks for complex systems.
- History of unblocking and enabling teammates through collaboration.
