Base Salary
$244k - $366k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define enterprise scalability fitness functions covering latency, throughput, and error rates, and align teams to SLOs and budgets.
- Design and implement sharding, partitioning, caching, back-pressure, multi-region readiness, and high-volume migration strategies.
- Build benchmarks, profiling harnesses, and reproducible testbeds, and partner with teams to implement fixes.
- Lead scalability reviews and readiness gates and conduct incident deep dives tied to systemic improvements.
- Communicate technical tradeoffs and business impact to executives and engineers across the organization.
- Integrate responsible AI into scale and resiliency work, including anomaly detection, synthetic load generation, and guided runbooks.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience scaling multi-tenant SaaS systems.
- Expertise in performance engineering, capacity planning, sharding and partitioning, caching and back-pressure, multi-region readiness, and high-volume migrations.
- Experience removing major bottlenecks and demonstrating measurable impact with data.
- Ability to align teams through scalability fitness functions, scorecards, readiness gates, and clear communication with executives and engineers.
- Experience or interest in applying AI to profiling, workload modeling, synthetic traffic generation, anomaly detection, and runbook assistance with appropriate guardrails and observability.
- Ability to lead through technical depth and hands-on impact without direct reports.
