Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain primarily Java applications using modern engineering practices and design patterns.
- Develop backend services with Java and Spring Boot, including REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Oversee astrodynamics algorithm solutions and optimization methods across interdisciplinary teams.
- Update and modernize legacy systems involving Fortran and C++.
- Design and implement end-to-end cluster and application lifecycles in cloud environments.
- Build and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines and automated software delivery processes using GitLab and GitOps practices.
- Implement DevSecOps practices and reliable deployment automation.
- Use Kubernetes or Docker for containerization and cloud-native deployments.
- Manage logs and use analytics tools for monitoring and system optimization.
- Work with databases, scripting languages, automation tools, and version-control systems across multiple technology stacks.
- Analyze large datasets to identify residuals, anomalies, and outliers.
- Collaborate with software engineers, DevSecOps architects, product leads, trainers, facilitators, and defense specialists.
Requirements
- Secret clearance or above is required.
- Experience with astrodynamics propagation methods, including special and general perturbation models.
- Experience with celestial and terrestrial frame transformations, measurement models, time scales, and Earth orientation.
- Experience with numerical methods such as root-finding algorithms and interpolation.
- Three to five years of experience developing web-based applications.
- Three to five years of experience with Kubernetes or Docker.
- Experience developing backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience with AWS and cloud technologies.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation, security, Agile, DevOps, and DevSecOps practices.
- Proficiency with AWS Cloud Services, GitLab, Ansible, Maven, and Gradle.
- Experience with test-driven development and unit or integration testing.
- Experience with statistical analysis of large datasets to capture residuals and characterize anomalies and outliers.
- Experience with Matlab, Python, or Bash scripting.
- Desired experience includes Orekit, Astropy, STK, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Apache Kafka, Kustomize, service mesh technologies such as Istio, and Kubernetes-native deployment patterns.
- Desired experience includes optimizing numerical, scientific, or backend algorithms for performance, accuracy, scalability, or computational efficiency.
Benefits
- Basic compensation is $135,000–$160,000 for Colorado Springs, Colorado only.
- Additional compensation may include bonuses, commissions, sign-on bonuses, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary performance payments.
