Responsibilities
- Build robust, scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines on Databricks using Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog.
- Write maintainable production software and automated unit, integration, and data-quality tests for pipelines.
- Integrate pipeline testing into CI/CD and provide thoughtful technical feedback through code reviews.
- Operate the data platform in production by implementing monitoring, alerting, data-quality checks, and observability.
- Lead or participate in incident investigations through root cause and implement preventative or corrective measures.
- Use AI tools to accelerate development, testing, and operations and identify opportunities to improve team productivity.
- Mentor colleagues and help evolve engineering, CI/CD, documentation, and system-design standards.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in data engineering or software development, with hands-on ownership of production data pipelines; the French version states 8+ years.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks or Apache Spark, including Delta Lake and data lake management.
- Strong Python and SQL skills.
- Significant experience with automated unit and integration testing, data-quality validation, and CI/CD for data workloads.
- Experience operating production pipelines, including monitoring, alerting, and incident investigations through root cause.
- Effective use of AI tools in daily engineering work.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor colleagues in an agile team.
- Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of French is required for permanent positions in Quebec.
