Responsibilities
- Identify inefficiencies and design solutions that improve engineering development velocity and reliability.
- Develop internal tools and infrastructure, including libraries and data pipelines, for scalable engineering workflows.
- Improve data and parameter interfaces between teams by simplifying multi-step workflows.
- Standardize workflows for analysis-tool development and verification-output generation.
- Package and promote reuse of engineering tools across projects.
- Define and standardize GitLab workflows, CI/CD pipelines, repository structures, and other software engineering practices.
- Automate documentation and maintain tools and deliverables in a usable, review-ready state.
- Maintain an inventory of engineering tools and ensure version control and long-term maintainability.
- Provide platform support, including CI/CD troubleshooting, repository setup, and onboarding.
- Support engineers in adopting Git, CI/CD, and collaborative development best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of software development experience for the middle level or 5+ years for the senior level, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong experience with Python or a similar scripting language.
- Experience with Git and version-control workflows.
- Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience developing in Linux environments and using containerization such as Docker.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with non-software engineers.
- Preferred: experience with engineering or scientific software, software packaging and distribution, automated documentation pipelines, aerospace or complex engineering environments, and Japanese-English communication.
